Yi: Vegan eateries are springing up in Athens, in particular along the road towards beachside Vougliameni where you’ll find vegan and raw-food mecca Yi. Greek for ‘Earth’, Yi is a plant-and-light-filled raw food café in Glyfada. At brunch, come for chia bowls, Greek salad served with cashew “feta”, or an almond mylk latte with a slice of their addictive carrot cake or raw vegan cheesecake. In the evening, their dinner menu is long and varied, featuring everything from veggie bowls and raw noodles to vegan pizzas/tarts, wraps and every type of salad you could think of. Try a few dishes, especially the “Al Pesto” (zuchinni noodles, basil pesto, tomato, marinated mushrooms and luxurious pistachios), and the Greek mizithra – a fresh, vegan cream “cheese” made from almonds and cashews, and sprinkled with herbs. Their goodies are also available to take-away, including their irresistible take on “nutella”: a crunchy, hazlenut nut-butter with swirls of cacao, sweetened with maple syrup. Edible by the spoon. Yum(-tini).
To eat: Glyfada

Welcome to Yumtini, a journal of my adventures across the foodscape of London and beyond. Covering cafés and restaurants (Eating out), coffee hot-spots (What’s brewing?), products that I love (Yummies) and food that I cook (Eating in), this blog is a creative outlet in which I can share the things I enjoy in life: food, photography, London and travel. As I work in the City, I also recommend grab-and-go lunch spots, as well as recipes for quick bites you can rustle up yourself. View all posts by About me
